Meet Kristin Bailey

National Bestselling Author

Kristin Bailey currently lives in Ohio with her family and a small menagerie of pets. When she is not figuring out how to get her teen characters into impossible adventures, or puzzling out how to kill someone and NOT get away with it, she enjoys learning languages, brushing horses, making crafts, and volunteering with service dogs in training. As a once aspiring English teacher, Kristin loves speaking to readers and running workshops for both children and adults.

Kristin Bailey, National Bestselling Author of adventure and mystery novels.
White quotation marks inside a blue circular icon.

“Something dark moved just on the other side of the slit. “Meg, is there something you’d like to tell me?”

A bellow, loud and monstrous, rang through the labyrinth, followed by the clang of metal striking metal.

My heart dropped into my shoes as I realized what it was. “I may have forgotten to mention the Minotaur.”

- Legacy of the Clockwork Key

“Slowly, like a great bear sniffing for his prey, the giant’s head turned and its body twisted. Its enormous hands clenched into fists the size of anvils as the metal eyelids lowered and those cold black eyes fixed on me. A light appeared inside them, like twin candles were trapped within the glass orbs. Then they glowed red…”

- Rise of the Arcane Fire

“Together we strained against the engine brake. John pulled the second lever, and the gears within the cab squealed as they shifted into a counter-rotation. The train screamed like a wounded beast as we fought against the momentum of the enormous monster… We weren’t going to stop in time. The train was going to crash…”

- Shadow of the War Machine

“Wynn was counting on him, and he had to do what was best and what was right for both of them. Trusting in fairy tales would not help them survive. Sometimes he wished he could see the world the way she did. But he couldn’t. He never would.”

- The Silver Gate

“Wynn hesitantly reached out to touch the shield, but felt nothing. Her hand passed right through it as the swirling colors spilled over her palm like flowing water. She took another step closer. The light and color slid up her outstretched arm, but she still couldn’t feel it. Going through it would be easy.”

- Into the Nightfell Wood

FAQs

What ages are appropriate for your books?2025-02-14T14:32:28-05:00

The Secret Order series was written for young teens. The Silver Gate series was written for tweens and young teens. They are generally PG rated. And the Wanderlust Mysteries are written for an adult audience, but appropriate for anyone who loves a good mystery.

Can I get a book signed?2025-02-14T14:33:05-05:00

Yes! I can send out signed bookplates to fans, or I can sign books that are mailed to me with enough return postage to get it back to you. Send me a message for book signing requests.

What pets do you have?2025-02-14T14:34:09-05:00

I have a tank full of little fish that are my writing buddies, two cats, a golden retriever who is a very good boy, a leopard gecko, and a mustang mare. If you count the bunnies, raccoons, chipmunks and woodchuck that think my garden is a free buffet, it’s a whole zoo.

Are you on social media?2025-02-14T14:35:01-05:00

Unfortunately, I am not on very much social media. You can follow me on Mastodon. (@[email protected]) I do love to hear from fans. Feel free to send me an email.

What languages are you learning?2025-02-14T14:35:44-05:00

I speak English and decent German, but I can always use more practice. I have just started learning Ukrainian to reconnect with my roots. I need to learn one more language to tie my Dad’s record, but I want to learn two more to beat him. I’m not sure what I’ll study next. Maybe Swedish?

Do you charge event fees?2025-02-14T14:36:25-05:00

I do have a modest fee for events, and require travel expenses. Please inquire about my booking fees by sending me an email. I will occasionally waive fees for local school events and libraries.

How did you start writing with Angie Fox?2025-02-14T14:38:56-05:00

Angie and I have been the first eyes on each other’s work since before we both were published. We’ve been working together as critique partners and friends for twenty years now. Recently we thought it would be fun to try writing together in a new way, and the Wanderlust series was born. We both hope readers enjoy the new series as much as we do. To learn more about Angie and her books, visit AngieFox.com.

Do you and Angie go on all the trips that Kat and Leia go on in the Wanderlust series?2025-02-14T14:44:20-05:00

Yes! Part of the fun of the series is that Angie and I go and stay in the places and do the things that we send Kat and Leia to do. We’re always looking for a new unique weekend experience. Who knows? It might become the next Wanderlust book.
